The Non-Zoo Trip -- Photography

After working twenty hours this weekend (hooray for me), I took Monday and Tuesdsay off and thought I'd take Stephanie to San Francisco to the Zoo for walkin' around and shootin' animals. With a camera, of course.

The New Camera -- Techno

I've been shooting with the Canon EOS 10D for about a year and a half. I loved it, but when the Canon EOS 20D was announced, I knew I had to upgrade. The new model addressed some of the limitations of the older one. The 20D turns on instantly. The 10D took a few seconds to warm up after it had gone to sleep, which could be more than a little irritating at air shows, for example.

Zzzzz -- Commentary

I've been arguing with a prickly blogger over evolution vs. "intelligent design" theory over at a conservative site I read occasionally. (The people there tend to be a little on the extreme side, but occasionally there's an amusing tidbit.) Here's the conversation in a nutshell:

The sports news sites are reporting an agreement in principle between the owners and the NHL Players Association. Hot dog! Maybe I'll get to cheer my Sharkies on again this season after all.

Live 8 -- Politics

I don't pay much attention to contemporary a.k.a. "pop" music. But it was hard to avoid the media praise being heaped upon "Sir" Bob Geldof and the Live 8 concert, which purports to help end poverty in Africa.

World of Warcraft -- Game Review

I like three kinds of computer games: war, strategy, and first-person shooters. This means I like to upgrade my PC a lot, because the state of the art in graphics and sound keeps getting pushed to and past its limits by computer games.
